Blackthorn Cottage provides self-catering holiday accommodation for two people: it has a double bedroom (with a king-sized double bed or twin beds), an airy light-filled living room, a small sitting / reading room, and a large kitchen. If there are three of you in your party, a third person can be accommodated on a sofa bed in the small sitting room. We renovated the cottage in 2008, transforming it from a derelict building to a place that provides the level of comfort that you would expect in a holiday cottage today, while retaining its traditional character. The cottage is rather unusual as it is heated by the combination of a wood-burning stove and solar energy. The holiday cottage offers a peaceful venue for creativity or relaxation. Its location and ambience make it the perfect place for writers or artists - or anyone who appreciates the charm of the Irish countryside. It is in an excellent location from which to explore Northern Ireland, especially the Glens of Antrim, the north Antrim coast, and the Giant's Causeway. Having explored Northern Ireland you can, in under 90 minutes, reach the other counties that form the province of Ulster - Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan.
